Ghorepani Poonhill trek is a colorful short foray into the Annapurna region. This trek in the Annapurna foothills to the view point on Poon Hill offers all the best of trekking in Nepal. Enjoy trekking in the spectacular mountain scenery through charming villages inhabited by the Gurungs, Magars, dense rhododendron forests full of birds and deep sub-tropical valleys, all set below the Annapurnas with the picturesque peaks of Machhapuchhare (Fish Tail Peak) dominating the skyline. At the climax of this trek you will climb Poon Hill at dawn to enjoy one of the most spectacular mountains on Earth. As the sun touches the snow-capped summits the Himalayan giants, Dhaulagiri (8,167m.) and Annapurna (8,091m.) along with a maze of other peaks, slowly begin to appear, like magic, before your eyes. Arrive Kathmandu

Upon arrival, meet and transfer to hotel. Check in & trek briefing. Late afternoon leisure walk in Thamel, a popular tourist district in Kathmandu Valley and a bustling bazaar which offers a glimpse of Nepal’s vibrant ethnic culture.

Kathmandu – Pokhara

After breakfast transfer to trek start point via Pokhara (6 hrs). Lunch will be on the way. Upon arrival short walk for 30 mins to rest stop at Birethanti.

Pokhara’s pristine air, spectacular backdrop of snowy peaks, serene lakes and surrounding greenery make it ‘the jewel in the Himalaya’, a place of remarkable natural beauty. It is also the gateway to the Annapurna region where many trekkers finds his Shangri-la, The mesmerizing Annapurna massif towering over the valley includes peaks over 8000m such as Machhapuchhre (Mt. Fishtail), Annapurna 1 to IV, Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri and Manaslu.

Birethanti – Ulleri

After breakfast start trek. You will ascend stone-cut steps made by ancients of old to access villages from one to another. As you climb higher, the panoramic view of villages dots the land below. After Lunch will be steep climb up hill it will take about 2 and half hours.

Ulleri – Ghorepani

Today, the trail continues to ascend, albeit more gently, through fine forest of oak and rhododendron. Ghorepani means “horse-water” in Nepalese. Indeed, along the whole trek, you probably have seen caravans of packed mules adorned beautifully thronging the high roads. Nestled on top of the mountain, this village is shrouded with clouds and offers the magnificent view of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna range.

Ghorepani – Poonhill – Tadapani

At dawn (about 430am) climb to Poon Hill (3210 m) takes about 1.5 hours. This high point offers a panoramic 360 degrees Annapurna range, Fishtail, Dhulagiri and Nilgiri Mountain around you. Your climb will be well-timed such that you will be able to watch sunrise approaching the mountains. It will be a memorable experience to relish; especially catching the sight of the distant snow peaks bathed in a coat of gold.

After spending morning at the Poonhill then trek back to Ghorepani for breakfast. After breakfast trek to Tadapnai trek about 5 hours.


Day 6 | B, L, D | Lodge | ▲ 1940m | ◎ 4hrs Trek
Tadapani – Ghandrung

After breakfast gradual flat and downhill trek all the way to Ghandrung takes about 4 hours. You will reach for lunch. Ghandrung is modern Gurung village. Also popular as “Gurkha” village as most the Gurkha’s are from this village.

Ghandrung – Birethanti – Pokhara

Trek downhill about 3 hours and take the transport back to Pokhara. Upon arrival check in hotel. Afternoon free at leisure to explore the Lakeside – a mix of hotels, restaurants, cafes, bars and souvenir shops that has thrived along the eastern shore of the enchanting Lake Phewa.

Pokhara – Kathmandu

After breakfast enjoy a five hour scenic drive along Trisuli to Kathmandu. Lunch will be on the way. Upon arrival check in hotel. Afternoon free to shop and explore Thamel.


Day 9 | B, L, D | Hotel | ▲ 1300m
Kathmandu

After breakfast, city tour visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and if you are lucky, you will get a glimpse of the famous Kumari, the world’s only living Goddess.After that visit Bouddhanath Stupa, one of the world’s largest Stupa built in the fifth century AD. It looms 36 meters high and presents one of the most fascinating specimens of stupa design with hundreds of prayer wheels and 108 small images of Buddha all around after that check in hotel.

Afternoon explore Asan Tol. It is one of the most well-known historical locations in the city and is famed for its bazaar, festival calendar and strategic location. The bazaar attracts shoppers from all over Kathmandu because of the tremendous variety of merchandise sold here, ranging from foodstuffs, spices and textiles to electronics and bullion. Asan is also one of the popular tourist spots in the city because of its architectural sights and charming ambiance.

Kathmandu – Departure

After breakfast, check out and transfer to airport for departure.
