8 Days Nepal Bird Watching Tour
Kathmandu – Godawari – Chitwan – Pokhara
Kathmandu and Pokhara are the most famous valleys in the southern slopes of Himalayas. While Nepal is a Paradise for Bird Watcher's with 873 species of birds. Nepal, though small in its size, has all kinds of habitats for birds-Wetlands, Lakes, tropical and subtropical Forests, coniferous and Himalayan habitats. This tour covers the three major bird watching locations – Pokhara, Chitwan and Phulchowki.
Nepal is a Paradise for Bird Watcher’s with 873 species (almost 10% of the world’s total bird’s species) of birds. Nepal, though small in its size, has all kinds of habitats for birds-Wetlands, Lakes, tropical and subtropical Forests, coniferous and Himalayan habitats.
Normally recommended a week holidays required for bird watching trip in Nepal. Best times are normally autumn season (Sep to Nov) & Spring season (Mar to May) is best time for bird watching trip. During our eight days tour, we will cover the three major places to see the different birds.

Pokhara
Two popular lake known as Fewa Lake and and Begnas Lake and the surrounding areas are highly recommended. These two areas with minimum disturbances, away from human inhabitation the forests around the south shore of Fewa lake. Look out in the fields and pools especially in the winter Possible birds Egrets, Herons, Pipits, Buntings, Gulls, Terns, Ducks, and Falcons etc. Begnas Lake is one hour drive a away from Pokhara city. The surrounding terraced hills and light forests around the lake. Possible birds Ducks, pheasant-tailed jacana; Hoppie Grey bellied Tesias, common pintail snipe, bulbuls etc.

Chitwan National Park
Chitwan is in the lowlands of Nepal. Chitwan National park is one of the best-known National park in Nepal for bird watching. The area consists of Sal Forest, Riverine forest, and grasslands, with three rivers forming the boundaries of the park. Some 500 species have been recorded in Chitwan National park and some of them are Blue Indian Roller, Stork-billed Kingfishers, Bengal Florican, Asian Paradise Flycatcher, Bee-eaters, and Cormorants. You have options to view the birds via elephant ride, jeep drive or a jungle walk accompanied by a naturalist guide.

Phulchowki
Phulchowki 2760m, is another ideal site for the Bird watching, it is located southeast of Kathmandu and is reached via Godawari a Botanical Gardens. It is a full day trip covering Botanical Garden. The hillside is covered with forest featuring outstanding flora as well as diverse birds. About 90 different species of bird have been recorded around this area including the endemic spring babbler, Curia, Mountain Hawk Eagle, Rufous Bellied Pied Woodpeckers and the Black-throated Parrot bill etc.

Kathmandu – Godawari
Upon arrival meet and transfer to Godawari. Drive will take about an hour. Upon arrival welcome drink & check in Resort. After that short Briefing. Late afternoon rest and relax. Evening Dinner.
Day 2 | B, L, D
Godawari – Phulchowki – Godawari
After breakfast 30 min drive and start day hike to Phulchowki hill. This is a popular hill side for the bird watching tour. You will spend nearly 4 hours with you guide. You will have pack lunch during your day hike. Afternoon back to Godawari and visit Botanical garden. After that transfer to resort. Evening dinner.
Day 3 | B, L, D
Godawari – Kathmandu – Pokhara
After breakfast drive to Pokahra (218 km). The Annapurna and the famous Machhapucchare (Commonly known as Fishtail Mountain) tower over the tropical setting of Pokhara. Drive will takes about 6 hrs. Upon reaching Pokhara check-in hotel. Afternoon 2 Boating at scenic Lake Phewa with sunset view. This board trip cover the start of the Lake Phewa and you will have many chance to view the different Birds. End of the board and back to lake side and enjoy walk around Lakeside Bazaar for some delightful shopping bargains. Evening dinner.
Day 4 | B
Pokhara – Sarangkot – Pokhara
Early morning, drive up to Sarangkot (1200m) sunrise view point for 30 minutes. Expect a very spectacular view of sunrise over the whole Annapurna range including the Machhapucchare of height close to 7000m. After sunrise,drive back to Pokhara for breakfast. After breakfast some rest. Afternoon drive to Begnas Lake, it will takes about 1 hr drive. You will have a more chances to see different types of birds, you can also do the boat ridge. After the tour back to hotel. Evening Dinner.
Day 5 | B
Pokhara – Chitwan National Park
After breakfast drive to Chitwan National Park, listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the first national park of Nepal established in 1973 to preserve a unique ecosystem significantly valuable to the whole world. The park covering a pristine area of 932 sq. km is situated in the subtropical inner Terai lowlands of southern central part of Nepal. Drive will takes about 4 hrs. Upon arrival check in jungle lodge. Welcome drinks followed by lunch. Late afternoon short walk in the short walking tour in the Tharu Village where you can view the Tharu community’s artistically decorated thatched huts, their typical dance and how they manage life next to the national park. Evening dinner and Cultural Performance at the lodge.
Day 6 | B
Chitwan National Park
After breakfast, enjoy a Long Boat Canoe Ride in Rapati River where you can see the crocodile resting at the river bank and different types of birds. This is one of the more serene ways to explore the area as we float downstream with the river’s flow. After that ,visit the Elephant Breeding Center and free and easy at Lodge. Lunch will be served at the Lodge. After lunch, you will travel through open grassland and dense forest on an Elephant Back Ride and while doing this you will come across different wild animals including one-horned Rhinoceros, different kind of deers, wild boars, and in rare cases, tigers. Evening dinner.
Day 7 | B, L, D
Chitwan National Park – Kathmandu
After breakfast go for the Jeep drive and Jungle walk, where you can see the more birds. After that back to jungle lodge and check out and drive back to Kathmandu. Drive takes about 5 hours. Lunch will be on the way. Upon arrival check in hotel. Late afternoon explore Asan Tol. It is one of the most well-known historical locations in the city and is famed for its bazaar, festival calendar and strategic location. The bazaar attracts shoppers from all over Kathmandu because of the tremendous variety of merchandise sold here, ranging from foodstuffs, spices and textiles to electronics and bullion. Asan is also one of the popular tourist spots in the city because of its architectural sights and charming ambiance. Evening enjoy a sumptuous traditional Nepalese Cuisine with Cultural Performance.
Day 8 | B
Kathmandu
After breakfast visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and if you are lucky, you will get a glimpse of the famous Kumari, the world’s only living Goddess. This complex of palaces, courtyards and temples like Hanumandhoka Palace, Kumari Ghar (Abode of the Living Goddess), Taleju temple, built between the 12th and 18th centuries, used to be the seat of the ancient Malla Kings of Kathmandu. After that transfer to Airport according to your flight.
